Anomalies in topological orders: from algebraic topology to physical realisations

Quantum London Seminar Series · London Institute for Mathematical Sciences, London, UK

This talk explains how anomalous symmetry actions in topological orders can be formalised as lifting obstructions in algebraic topology, and how those obstructions constrain physical realisations.

Lieb-Schultz-Mattis constraints in 3D: application to the pyrochlore and the diamond lattices

Presenter: Chunxiao Liu

2024 APS March Meeting · Session D07: 2D Magnetism and Quantum Spin Liquids · Minneapolis & Virtual · Room L100H

This presentation relates lattice-homotopy and anomaly formulations of Lieb-Schultz-Mattis constraints, deriving complete constraints for pyrochlore, diamond, and breathing-pyrochlore magnets.
