This talk develops a framework for classifying the infrared phases of fermionic quantum theories in three spatial dimensions using finite-symmetry anomalies. It distinguishes anomalies compatible with symmetric gapped states from those that enforce gaplessness, with applications to (3+1)-dimensional gauge theories.
